For the First Time in Iowa!
Iowa Diabetes is incredibly proud to announce that Whitney Ceretti PA-c, one of our providers, is one of the first few healthcare providers in Iowa to successfully perform an Eversense 365 CGM implant. We’re excited to be at the forefront of this change and to see it take off.
Whitney Ceretti, PA-C at Iowa Diabetes shares, “I’m excited for patients with diabetes to have one more tool to help them manage their diabetes. With so many factors affecting blood sugar, it’s so amazing that we can provide patients with a resource to make the disease feel a little less overwhelming. Eversense is a CGM option like none other in the market, and it gives our patients the option to choose what works best for them! The procedure is quick and easy, and as a fellow individual with diabetes, it is an honor to be able to provide this service!”
What is Eversense 365?
Eversense 365 is a CGM, aka sensor, that is changing the way individuals manage their diabetes. Unlike traditional sensors that need to be replaced every 10 – 15 days, Eversense 365 is a small implantable sensor that stays in the upper arm for a full year. This is implanted in a quick procedure conducted by a certified healthcare provider. The sensor is small, measuring ¾ inches long and ⅙ inches wide. Once the sensor is securely implanted, it will stay in place all year long without you having to worry about it falling off. This can be a great choice for those with an active lifestyle or in contact sports.
Benefits Over Other CGMs
The Eversense CGM offers several unique advantages compared to standard CGMs.
- A 365-day sensor: One sensor lasts a full year, compared to the typical 10 – 15 day wear of a traditional CGM.
- Single Warm-up Period: Since the sensor is only inserted once per year, it only requires one warm-up period.
- Removable Transmitter: The transmitter can be easily removed as needed allowing you to shower free of the device.
- On-Skin Vibration Alerts: Get real-time alert vibrations directly on your arm when your glucose levels are out of range, providing you with information to check your sugar levels.
- Minimal Risk of Compression Lows: Unlike traditional CGMs, which can be known to cause false lows due to compression when sleeping, the Eversense implanted sensor is more protected against this issue providing more accurate readings.
- Silicon-based Adhesives: The silicon adhesive is ideal for those with sensitive skin or allergies to other forms of adhesive.
